Holiday Fun

We really enjoyed the recent school holidays, and as usual we took our cameras everywhere.















On the last day of school holidays it was so windy at our place we decided to take a drive and head to Redlands.  The weather was a little breezy, but the sun shone, and we soaked up every drop.

I like to think of this one as a self portrait.  Like so many of our clients I also hate being in front of the camera lens, but I know how I love to look back at where we have been and what we have done.

Sometime a scene isn't complete until it has something special in it - Dave's camera.



Sophisticated Glamour with Ideal Bride

Part three in our series of films for Ideal Bride Magazine. Another little peek into the photo shoots that will feature in the next edition.

This shoot was at the beautiful Whepstead Manor, a private residence at Wellington Point.  Designer labels including Rachel Gilbert, Wayne Cooper, George Wu and Carla Zampatti feature in this outstanding setting.


A great creative team worked together, and I'm looking forward to seeing the images in the magazine - out August 1.

Timeless Elegance with Ideal Bride Magazine

Here is the next film in the series of promotional trailers we have shot for Ideal Bride Magazine. We loved working with so many talented people to put together some amazing imagery that will feature in the next edition of the magazine.

You may have seen some of the images from the photo shoot with JK Couture already on Dave's blog. Joanne's haute couture gowns looked stunningly beautiful in the elegant surrounds of Tattersalls Club.

Sensual Seduction with Ideal Bride Magazine

Here is the first in a series of promotional trailers we have shot for the next edition of Ideal Bride Magazine. These stylish fashion films have been created to showcase the exciting feature articles in the new edition of Queensland's best bridal magazine, with the first highlighting the glamourous and sexy photo shoot of the latest trends in lingerie. The shoot, at the stunning Whepstead Manor at Wellington Point featured designs by Collette Dinnigan, Carla Zampatti, Elle Macpherson Initimates with accessories from Peter Lang and much more. You can see the stunning images in the next edition of Ideal Bride Magazine - on sale August 1st.

JK Couture Bridal Photo Shoot

It was such a pleasure to work with Joanne from JK Couture on a Photo Shoot of a selection of Bridal Gowns Designs.  Not being a sewer I am completely in awe of Joanne's skill.  Watching her flick some fabric, and throw it over a mannequin that then turns into someone's dream wedding gown is quite inspiring.

With each gown being individually designed and made on the premises by Joanne and her team, we thought it was important to photograph each gown differently. Tattersalls Club was the perfect venue with its historic and opulent furnishings and fittings.

The images will be in the next edition of Ideal Bride Magazine.  Below is just a teaser of some of the images, and our behind the scenes look at the Photo Shoot.



World's Largest Ballet Class

We had a fantastic weekend.  One of the highlights was attending the World's Largest Ballet Class.  An event held by Queensland Ballet at The Ideas Festival 2011.

Unfortunately it rained, as is becoming more common in Queensland.  This could have been a downer, but instead the well organised event went full steam ahead at the State Library.

1359 participants donned tu-tus and the like and completed the class. The cheers on breaking the World Record were ear drum shattering.

Behind the Scenes at the IB Fashion Parade

Some many talented people have to come together to produce a successful fashion parade.  Once again everyone involved in the Ideal Bride Expo Fashion Parade was in their best form, and the parade looked amazing.  Here's a little sneek peak behind the scenes with the brilliant make up artist - Giulia Ponticello and hair stylists from Elite Freelancing.  The gorgeous models are from Division Model Management. Thanks again to Mick, Barbara and the team at Ideal Bride.

Maria & Rafe Wedding in Brisbane

Maria & Rafe are one of our wonderful couples from earlier this year. They enjoyed a lovely wedding ceremony in their family church in Corinda. Followed by a photography session at the Mt Cootha Botanical Gardens. Then onto their reception at the Jindalee Hotel. Friends and family travelled from all over the world to be part of this special celebration.  Thanks to Maria & Rafe for letting us be a part in your day.

Hello Future Moby Music Video

It's so wonderful to have an opportunity to work with world renown talent, and have creative control on the final outcome.  Chances like this don't come by everyday.  So we conceived a story to compliment Moby's lyrics and music.  After much thought and many different ideas here's what we decided.

As we worked through the scenes we realised it was a valuable lesson for Zoe.  The way she cuddles the toy reflects the conversation we had about being homeless, and having no possessions.  It's a hard concept for most people to accept, but I think Zoe shows the emotion beautifully. 

As we worked on I really thought about the effect we have as parents on future society, and how if you don't have good role models in your life how can you develop into a productive member of soiety.  The other terrifying thought is how often those who shout loudest get the most, while the silent ones slip throught the cracks. 

We love working in the wedding industry, and we are so lucky to see magical, loving moments in people's lives. It's very easy to forget the silent ones. So even if just for a moment we think how fortunate we are, or have compassion for just a fleeting moment, maybe the next time we see someone a little less blessed we can give them a smile, a dollar, or some acknowledgement that they are not invisible.



It's been a wonderful thought provoking process, and I'm looking forward to seeing the finalists and then the winning music video.

High Tea at Botanicals

We had a great day at Botanicals Cafe High Tea and Bridal Showcase.  Botanicals is at the entrance to the beautiful Mt Cootha Botanical Gardens, so the perfect place for your wedding photographs, with just a short trip up Mt Cootha to the lookout for some dramatic sunset or night images to give a totally different option.
Chatting informally with the couples who attended was fantastic. Most were just at the start of their wedding preparations, and getting ready to make the big decision on the perfect venue.
Thanks to the team at Botanical for a lovely day. We also had the opportunity to meet up with some great wedding suppliers including celebrants - Jane Zwar and Caroline Jackson, DJ and MC - Brian Davis, gorgeous men's suits from Elio Moda, reception entertainment with Digi-Diary.

We are looking for a couple of gorgeous young ladies to be featured in a couture bridal photo shoot we are doing in May. You must be over 18 and over 5'8". It will be an awesome experience for the right person and you will get the shots for your portfolio. Email us a photo and your measurements. Shortlisted girls will be interviewed in late April.

Kristin & Matthew at the Marriott on the Gold Coast

Kristin and Matthew enjoyed a wonderful day full of emotion, with lots of tears, laughter and fun.  The Marriott on the Gold Coast provided the perfect backdrop with the fantastic views and the stunning staircase.  Kristin looked gorgeous and I loved the bridemaid dresses, something just a little different, while the boys looked totally relaxed in their thongs and vests. A great fun couple who made the most of the day.

Weekend at Caloundra

One of our favourite places to go for a short getaway is to Caloundra.  This time the weather wasn't so great, but we always manage to have a fantastic time.  Lots of swims, and plenty of photographs taken.  Here are some of my favourites.

Ideal Bride Expo February 2011

We love the opportunity to exhibit at the Ideal Bride Wedding Expo. It's the perfect place to meet couples organising their special day, and chat about all the details, and how we can capture every precious moment.

One of the highlights is the Fashion Parade where gorgeous gowns, bridesmaids dress, menswear and much more are on display in all of their glory.



These wonderful suppliers include Hoe Boutique, JK Couture, I Heart Labels, Exquisite Bridal Wear, Always Habit, Strictly Formal, Cheeky Angel.
 
Guilia Ponticello Makeup Artist did all of the makeup for the parade, while Elite Freelancing did the hair styles.  The models from Division Model Management looked fantastic!

Thanks to Mick, Barbara and the team at Ideal Bride for organising such a great event.  All of the people involved make the weekend such a joy to be a part of.

Our Photography Courses

We love photography. If you have spoken to us you will know how excited we get when we talk about a new wedding, family photo shoot, or a crazy event that we get to capture. It's all about the people, their stories, and how we capture the moments to represent that individual, family or event.
Recently we started our photography courses. We knew we'd love it, but I don't think we realised how much. The opportunity to spend a day or two talking about what we love is a pure pleasure. The bonus is watching our participants learn, explore their creative side, and generally have fun while improving.

Ideal Bride Expo

What a great weekend. We loved capturing the Fashion Parade, and can't wait to finish the highlight clip to go online. Here's a couple of pics from the Expo.
